About this place
Yellowtail shabu-shabu is a good way to begin an evening at Dining room you, with mizuna greens, tofu and shimeji mushrooms listed as accompaniments. One diner who ordered the hot pot described pairing the moderately fatty yellowtail with mizuna, grated daikon and spring onion, and dipping it in a ponzu sauce with a restrained tang. At 1,580 yen, the pot felt like good value even to this diner, who had chosen it for a second stop of the evening.
For a lighter bite, start with the small dishes known as obanzai, such as smoked potato salad or eggplant simmered in broth. One diner said both the bacon version and the regular potato salad made an impression. If you want something more substantial, there are dishes featuring myoga and mochi pork, as well as fried options. A solo diner seated at the counter recalled particularly enjoying the myoga-wrapped pork.
Finish with sauce yakisoba. A diner who returned several times during a stay in Kyoto singled it out for praise; it is listed at 850 yen. There are also rice balls with ume, salmon or mentaiko, and dashi chazuke with nori, ume, salmon or mentaiko. That leaves the choice between a light finish and one more filling dish.
Alongside beer, the drinks list includes several barley shochu. Options include Nakanaka, described as light; Kenpachi, noted for its toasted aroma and depth; and Maika, which is recommended on the rocks. There is room to choose a drink to suit your taste while sampling several dishes. With counter seating and information for groups, the restaurant can work for anything from a solo meal to dinner with several people.
